OUR PRIORITIES
WHAT WE'RE FIGHTING FOR
REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM
Joseph is deeply committed to defending our fundamental freedoms. He will fight back against extreme MAGA Republicans and protect our right to safe, legal abortion services. In the Assembly, Joseph will work to increase funding for Planned Parenthood and expand access to affordable reproductive health services.
That’s why Planned Parenthood Action Fund of the Pacific Southwest has said, “Joseph Rocha will be an effective advocate for reproductive health and rights.”

GUN SAFETY REFORM
As a law-abiding gun owner who lost his grandfather to gun violence, Joseph understands the complex debate between public safety and our constitutional rights. Joseph supports the enforcement of tough gun safety laws to keep our community safe, including red flag laws, age restrictions, background checks on all gun sales, and mandatory safe storage.

PUBLIC SAFETY
As a prosecutor in the Marine Corps, Joseph worked to bring criminals to justice in cases including rape, domestic abuse, and child predators. Joseph is a former military police officer and understands the justice system.
Joseph will make our neighborhoods safer by addressing the root causes of crime, keeping violent criminals locked up, and enforcing common-sense gun safety laws.

WORKING FAMILIES
Joseph Rocha understands the need for better middle-class jobs, higher wages,
and more affordable housing and food. He came from nothing, working to support himself from high school through law school.
In the Assembly, Joseph will fight to create good-paying union jobs, support small businesses to grow our local economy, and invest in higher education and job training programs. That’s why our local nurses, educators, healthcare workers, and construction workers are supporting Joseph for State Assembly.
VETERANS
After serving our nation in the U.S. Navy and as a Marine Corps Captain, Joseph has dedicated his life to caring for his fellow veterans and their families. In the Assembly, Joseph will fight to stop taxing military retirements and guarantee free college for veterans who risked their lives in service of our country — allowing them to pass their GI Bill benefits to their spouse or children.
This will empower our veterans’ families, encourage veterans to put down roots in our communities following their service, and grow our economy by helping increase homeownership and new small businesses. Joseph will work to close healthcare coverage gaps for qualifying veterans to gain access to ocular and dental care and fight to prioritize veteran and military spouse hiring across public agencies.

HOUSING & HOMELESSNESS
Joseph Rocha understands the housing and homelessness crisis we are facing – he personally experienced homelessness as a child, and his mother lost her battle with addiction.
Joseph will fight to build more affordable housing, keep housing costs down, and provide the services necessary to get unhoused people off the streets and into supportive housing to end encampments.

LGBTQ+ EQUALITY
Joseph has been a tireless champion for the rights of LGBTQ+ people, helping lead the fight to repeal the military’s discriminatory “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy after he was discharged from the Navy for being gay.
Joseph will stand up for all of us — that’s why he is endorsed by LGBTQ+ rights organizations like Equality California and LGBTQ+ Victory Fund.

CLIMATE CHANGE
San Diego County is facing urgent threats due to climate change, including damage to our coastline and the increasing number and intensity of wildfires.
Joseph supports increased funding for firefighters and will fight to protect our homes from climate-related disasters and create jobs in our community through climate mitigation and renewable energy.
